It's all about the black and gold vintage blazer
March 25, 2014Vintage finds are the best! There's nothing
more satisfying than rummaging through old clothes and finding one off pieces
that still have life left in them .When I lived in London, I used to be
at Portobello Market pretty
much every Saturday on the hunt for a bargain, looking for something different.
I don't know why I stopped doing it as much
over the years but living in Brighton has really revived my love of vintage. It
is a hub for second hand shops, antique stores and vintage boutiques where you
can find lots of gems.
My recent purchase was from the marvellous Beyond Retro store in the Brighton
Lanes where I picked up this amazing cropped 80' style jacket. With its
gold buttons and voluminous shoulder pads, it looked like it could have been
worn in the Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation video.
I'm so excited about styling it in different
ways so my first look is matching it with a pair of emerald green high waisted
trousers I bought from River
Island. The pleated front and a
looser fit nod to a typical 80s silhouette, so they felt like a good match with
the jacket.
The overall look called for high heels, so I
wheeled out my trusty snake skin heels from TopShop . For me vintage shopping is all about looking for quality pieces you’re
not likely to find anywhere on the high street. Though fashion trends are like
a revolving door, they will always be interpreted differently so it’s good to
own a vintage version. I am in love with my new Jacket
